What a day at Old Trafford for Arsene Wenger. Despite losing on his final visit to Old Trafford as a manager, Arsene thanked Manchester United for the classy gesture.

The French Tactician was awarded a piece of Silverware by Legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, who hugged him while current Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho also gave the french man a hug.

Arsene chose to rest key players due to a Europa league return leg fixture away against Athletico Madrid at Vicente Calderon. Man Utd started the Farewell match on a high note when Paul Pogba opened the scoring sheet after tapping in from a crossbar deflection by an Alexis header in the 16th minute.

The visitors continued to press and where rewarded when Mhikitaryan pulled level in the 56th minute and received a round of applause from the home fans.

However, at a stadium which has seen Wenger enjoy some of the highest and lowest points of his Arsenal career, there was one final sting in the tail as Fellaini netted in the 92nd minute to officially end the visitors’ hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League via the top four.

This result leaves Arsenal sixth on the log and 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with only three games left, whereas United move five points clear of Liverpool in the race for second place and are now guaranteed a top four finish this season.
